How many days do you feel like your candle has been blown out? Katherine Dunham once said, “Go within every day and find the inner strength so the world will not blow your candle out.” This time of year it seems harder to keep my inner flame lit with all the things that need to be done, so daily I go within and muster up all the inner strength I can find to live that day with grace, dignity, and integrity. Developing my inner strength has allowed me to live intentionally and develop fortitude to handle what daily life throws at me and there are days life throws a cold bucket of water and I shiver! Anyone can give up–it’s the easiest thing to do. The world is full of people who give up, but that is not an option for me. By following the seven steps of The Way I have increased my inner strength which has helped me cope with stress, and this time of year stress seems to be around every corner. So, today on this last day of November when the calendar ticks slowly toward the end of the year and your list seems overwhelming spend time with your breath in meditation. Take a walk in Nature. Turn off the media. Put on some soothing music and enjoy the peace that will flows so the world does not blow out your candle. It needs your unique light!
