Early this morning on our walk, there was a rainbow, filling the rain soaked sky with it’s beautiful colors. As we hiked toward it, I was reminded of a Lord Bryon quote: “Be thou the rainbow in the storms of life. The evening beam that smiles the clouds away, and tints tomorrow with prophetic ray.” Breathing in the cool air charged with energy, I asked the rainbow to soothe the storms of life. Yesterday was a difficult day. A man I know broke down on me because he is out of business next week, and is losing his house. And one of our employees two-year-old daughter was sexually abused by the non-custodial parent. The later is probably the hardest for many people to wrap their heads around. In my stint as a teacher, I was witness to this more times than I care to mention, but it doesn’t make it any easier. When people ask me why this happens, I don’t have an answer. All I can do is pray that she gets the help she needs, and be supportive of her parent. But this morning, the rainbow symbolized that there is good in the world and we must focus on the positive, not the negative. As you navigate the storms of your own life, remember to follow the seven steps of The Way and live in this glorious moment. For we never know what tomorrow will bring.
