The wind is the spirit of change and of healing, which allows transformation of the soul. I always took to Nature as my teacher, and she is slowly giving way to the cycles and rhythms of change. Some of the leaves are changing and the sagebrush is blooming.  (It’s Nevada’s state flower–more like the state weed.)  The sun is rising later in the morning and setting earlier. Soon it will be time to light the fire. The sixth step of The Way is all about investing your energy in the pursuits that have meaning and value for you and letting go of the people, places, activities, and ideas you’ve outgrown. When you let go of things that no longer honor your individual path, you allow the spirit of change into your life. Impermanence is a part of life and you need to embrace it because we all change from moment to moment. So, today, start simple. Look in your closet. Do you still have clothes from high school or college? Unless you are saving them for a retro dance, donate them. Are there people in your life you’ve outgrown? You know those people. You feel obligated to talk to them, but you really have nothing in common; in fact they irritate your soul because you know you have anything in common, but feel guilty if you release them from your life. It’s okay to let them go. Acknowledge them when you see them, spend a few minutes chatting, then gracefully say you need to be on your way.  Then watch what happens. I predict new opportunities will enter your life. Blessings.

November’s first snowfall falls gently and softly outside my studio window. Like a small child, I am excited by the white stuff and anticipating winter’s activities and blessings. Oh, by March I will be weary of the snow and ready for spring, which is extremely fickle in the Sierras and sometimes does not come until late May, but today I am energized. I even pulled out the winter sweaters! This weekend we will dig out the hefty snow blower and unearth the snow shovels.

Watching the snow fall, I am reminded of winter’s blessings–the opportunity for growth and rebirth in the spring. Real transformation needs the darkness as much as the light, for it is in the darkness that the seeds of rebirth germinate and emerge with the light. Now is the perfect time of year to begin following The Way, my recent novel. By investing your energy into yourself, you will begin the real work of the soul and a transformation will take place in the depths of your being. http://supernovel.com/The_Way.htm

And for me, today I am intoxicated with the wonder of the snow and the possibilities that await me.
